  • Support player 5up has left the B8 Esports organization after qualifying for the ESL One CIS Online Season 1: Lower Division in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 (DPC)
  • B8 Esports recently underwent a roster change where they change 3/5 players in the roster and brought in 3 Brazillian players.
  • 5up and Dendi were the only two players in the B8 Esports squad who remained unchanged.

CIS Dota 2 organization B8 Esports has just announced that support player Enis "5up" Elfki has departed from the lineup in a shocking move. This announcement comes after the CIS team qualified for the ESL One CIS Online Season 1: Lower Division in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 (DPC)

5up’s History with B8 Esports

5up joined the CIS organization in June 2020 as the Position - 4 support player. He stuck with the team through multiple roster changes and was one of the team’s longest-tenured players only next to Danil “Dendi” Ishutin.

His time in the Dendi-lead org was mostly unsuccessful, with multiple last-place finishes. He won $6,000 USD in his tenure with the popular CIS team.

B8 Esports recently underwent a roster shuffle earlier this month, picking up three Brazillian players: Leonardo “RdO” Fernandes, Diego “Sexyfat” Barini Santamaria, and Heitor “Duster” Pereira. Dendi and 5up were the only two players who did not change rosters.

Following this roster shuffle, 5up and B8 Esports managed to make it to the Lower Division of the ESL One CIS Online Season 1: Lower Division in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 (DPC).

It is a shock to see 5up depart from the lineup right after securing his most significant success yet in the DPC.

According to Valve’s official DPC website, Transfer periods start after the Major, and before the next season begins, each roster change incurs a 15% penalty on current points. The website doesn't contain any details regarding transfers made before the season kicks off.

Considering the fact that B8 Esports currently do not have any DPC points against their name, they will not be facing any penalty for making this move.

Although it might seem unfair from an external point of view, B8 Esports is not breaking any of Valve’s publically announced rules regarding the roster locks.

Update:

5up has released a statement detailing the circumstances that lead to his departure from B8. It reads:

Hey,

Regarding my departure from B8, I did not intend leaving the team in such short notice. I really wanted to play the DPC. However, the team came to the agreement that a different player would be more fitting for the line-up and decided to go different ways. I definitely respect their decision and wish the best for their dpc run.

I will look ahead and focus on myself and my stream but I'm still looking for a team for this or next season of the DPC.

Nevertheless, I would like to thank my old teammates, especially Dendi and MeTTpuM for the good time I was able to gain alot of experience and i learned alot.
