Dota 2 Players & Talent Express Dissatisfaction With Valve

Earlier yesterday, during the WePlay! OMEGA League tournament, after multiple crashes in a game featuring Team Liquid and 5Men, analyst/caster Kyle "Kyle" Freedman expressed his frustration with Valve and their lack of concrete information about the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. He compared the game to the professional esports circuits of games like League of Legends, Rocket League, and Call of Duty questioning why Valve hadn’t resumed the DPC.

This sparked a whirlwind of discussion amongst esports players, talent and fans with everyone questioning Valve and expressing their dissatisfaction.

Reactions From Pro Players, Talents and Esports Journalists About Valve's Handling of The DPC

ESPN Journalist Tyler “TheEsportsWriter” Erzberger was the first to comment on this matter after Kyle’s outburst.

Following this, popular journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau also commented on it, stating that Valve manages to somehow escape scrutiny compared to other companies like Blizzard or Riot.

Former North American player, Peter “PPD” Dager also made a vague post on his Twitter, which was likely about this issue.

4 Zoomers carry Samuel "Sammyboy" Anderson expressed frustration about the whole matter from a professional player’s point of view.

Dota 2 statsman Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen stated that some of the talent was afraid of making such statements because they feared being blacklisted from TI by Valve.

Former Pro Player and streamer Dominik "Black^" Reitmeier noted that it feels like the passion for the game has been lost.

Earlier this week, Valve announced that they couldn’t commit to new dates for the DPC or The International 10 because of the uncertainty surrounding the world.

If things went as planned, we would have seen a new champion being crowned at TI10 earlier last week, with the Grand Finals of TI10 coming to a close on Sunday, August 23. Unfortunately, Valve postponed the tournament earlier in April 2020.

According to the Regional DPC online leagues unveiled by Valve earlier this year, the first Regional League season would have kicked off in October 2020 with the Major taking place shortly after in December 2020. However, it looks like this will no longer be the case.
