[SL Minor Chinese Qualifiers] Xiao8: “If this match is not fixed, I will eat shit on stream”

The ongoing Chinese qualifiers for the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3, has run into a spot of controversy after accusations of match-fixing and 322 emerged.

The suspected match in question is the 2nd game between Avengerls and Newbee where the latter managed to come back from a 13k net worth deficit. Although it could have just been bad decision-making, some of the plays made by Avengrls were certainly questionable and suggests foul play.

Questionable plays

Many have also stated that Game 3 was also fixed with Avengrls intentionally throwing kills in the first few minutes of the game, to win the ‘First to Ten Kills’ bet.

On his popular stream, EHOME’s coach Zhang "xiao8" Ning has accused the teams of match-fixing and stated that he will eat shit on stream if it wasn’t the case.

Many fans have also stated that several players of Avengerls are well-known account boosters/advertisers in Chinese ranked matches and have implored Valve and Starladder to do a thorough investigation of this matter.

The series concluded with Newbee winning it 2-1. However, the matches seem to be quite suspicious.

While the situation is still developing, we cannot confirm that both teams were involved in match-fixing. Especially, Newbee, since Matchfixing works by intentionally betting against your own team, then throwing the game so you lose the game (and win the bet). In traditional sports, it almost never involves the winning team.

Stay tuned for further updates.
