SEA representatives Fnatic managed to secure an unconvincing victory against South American Team Unknown, to move on to the next round of the playoffs.

After a relatively poor performance in the Group Stages finishing in 3rd place in the perceived group of death - Group B, Fnatic were forced to play a BO1 elimination match against South American upstarts Team Unknown.

Team Unknown vs Fnatic

The game started with Team Unknown drafting a fairly straight-forward lineup featuring an Axe, a Lifestealer and a Viper as its cores, while Fnatic chose to pick up a fairly greedy lineup with Gyrocopter, Faceless Void and Timbersaw.

Although Unknown was expected to win the laning phase, they bled kills giving Fnatic a good start. They utilized this farm up a ton on their Faceless Void and Timbersaw to secure a 10k networth lead and took the first lane of barracks.

However, Greedy on his Axe pulled off some great Berseker’s Calls to somehow etch out a path to victory. Things looked good for the South American team, as they won multiple fights on the back of some great Axe-Lifestealer bomb initiations. But DJ proved to be the decisive factor once again, landing some great stuns on his Tiny allowing his cores to dish out the damage to secure the win.

Fnatic will need to step up their gameplay when they face EG/IG in their next round of the lower bracket which takes place tomorrow.
