eXTREMESLAND announced the details of the Oceania qualifiers yesterday via their Facebook page. With the organizers looking to include more teams from the APAC region, the Oceania region has been granted two slots this time around. Both the open and closed qualifiers will be conducted by InstaFrag while being hosted on FACEIT servers.
The online qualifier will be taking place on 21 September with no participation fee for the competing teams. This will be an open-seeded bracket following a best-of-one single-elimination format up until the round-of-sixteen after which the remaining matches will follow a best-of-three format.
Top four teams from the online qualifier will be making their way through to the closed qualifier which will take place on 22 September. Here the four qualifying teams along with four directly invited teams will be playing against each other in a best-of-three single-elimination format.
Two teams from this will move on to the LAN finale, set to take place on 5 October at the FBI Gaming Arena in Sydney. These two qualifying teams will be joined by two more directly invited teams for the grand finale.
The two teams who survive the LAN finale will be flying out to Shanghai for the main event set to take place from 14-17 November. Let’s see if Chiefs can return to Shanghai to compete with the best in Asia or does new blood from the land down under finds its way to Shanghai.
