The CS:GO community was shocked the day Danish star AWPer Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz left Astralis and signed a three-year contract with the Swedish organization Ninjas in Pyjamas. His departure shifted things around for Astralis who finally brought in Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen to their active lineup. But the player who was most affected by this change was senior Astralis member Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, who is now taking on a new role and filling in the position left vacant by dev1ce. The 2 players have had a long journey together in competitive CS:GO and in a recent interview with ESL, dupreeh could not hold back his tears while delivering a farewell message to dev1ce.

The 2 Danish CS:GO players dupreeh and dev1ce have a long history of playing together. They have played for Copenhagen Wolves, Dignitas, TSM, and Astralis before dev1ce decided to part ways with the Danish giants in order to achieve a better work-life balance.

Dev1ce while joining NIP had come forward to reveal why he had taken such a big and important decision, giving the community valid reason associated with the move that everyone seemed to agree with. But leaving an organization with whom you have won 4 CS:GO Major titles and ruled the competitive circuit for so long, is no small thing especially when you are leaving a player like dupreeh with whom you have spent so many years under different organizations.

Talking about the same in an interview with ESL dupreeh got teary while delivering this farewell message to dev1ce,

“Well, obviously Nicolai I know that you have made your decision and I respect it fully. I’m gonna start crying now because it is actually quite emotional. How do you put it out, I respect everything that you have done and what we have been through. I wish you the best going forward, I’m gonna try and do my best to fulfil your shoes, but we will see where everything goes from there. I hope we will see you at all events and we’ve already talked about this. I appreciate all the things that we’ve been through.”

Dupreeh got teary while delivering this farewell message and it was quite an emotional affair, which only goes on to show the type of bond that the two of them shared. Dev1ce while responding to this message went on to say a few words from his side as well,

“He has some qualities as a person you very rarely see and everyone in the team had that, so obviously I’m going to miss all of them so much and it is always going to be a really good part of my life. I mean he knows we are no longer on the same journey but we are on the same train.

Peter after the first game I think he is doing an amazing job, sometimes he is too hard on himself but yeah, lovely times and as I said like just looking forward to seeing them again in tournaments.”

Both the teams are currently competing in the ongoing Flashpoint Season 3 which is the first European RMR tournament of 2021. While Astralis has attained its first victory against OG, NIP will be going up against Anonymo Esports tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the ongoing event and if we get to witness a faceoff between the 2 sides or not.
