  • NIP's latest signing dev1ce provides a clarification for the statements that he had made about Astralis.
  • Certain things dev1ce had said about Astralis had been taken "out of context" spreading a false message and a wrong impression.
  • Dev1ce further said that, "I have nothing but good words to say about my time at the organization and the people there will always be family to me".

Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz’ recent transfer to Ninjas in Pyjamas had caught the entire CS:GO community by surprise, but after listening to his reason behind the transfer they were really accepting of this decision. NIP celebrating the signing of one of the best CS:GO players in the world, quickly released a vlog titled ‘Dev1ce's first day as a Ninja!’ on 25 April. However, some of the things that dev1ce said on the vlog about Astralis quickly became a topic of discussion, making highlight across the internet. Though dev1ce did not comment on the subject immediately, he did come forward to give a statement later via pley.gg, saying that:

“To be clear, my words have been twisted out of context, seemingly in an attempt to manufacture division between myself and Astralis.”

Dev1ce clarification for statements made against Astralis

Dev1ce’s first-day meeting with the Ninjas in Pyjamas CS:GO team at their office in Stockholm, was vlogged by the organization and uploaded to their social channels. The release of the video was highly anticipated by the community members, who wanted to see the whole NIP CS:GO team together and what dev1ce had to say about everything.

Unfortunately, the statements mentioned below that dev1ce had made in the vlog about Astralis went viral within the CS:GO community. Instantly spreading a false message and giving a wrong impression about the situation,

  1. Talking about his time in Astralis, dev1ce had said that “We didn’t really do things perfectly in our team. We were just lucky a lot of times with the timings and how we read the meta”.

  2. He further appreciated NIP for its setup while saying that “Honestly I think, at least where I come from, you are maybe five steps ahead regarding how you practice and prepare”.

While no immediate response was given by dev1ce. He later addressed this issue via a statement provided to pley.gg saying that all the comments that were being highlighted had been taken “out of context”. Elaborating on the situation he went on to say the following,

“I'm disappointed that certain people in the media have decided to selectively frame comments that were intended with humility and respect towards my new teammates; not a slight towards my previous organization. As I have recently stated, I have nothing but good words to say about my time at the organization and the people there will always be family to me.

My move to NiP was a decision made purely on sporting integrity, professional ambition and personal circumstances. I'm looking forward to focusing on this next chapter of my journey and creating a legacy in the sport that I love.”
