  • Obo has returned from a 6 month hiatus to complete Evil Geniuses' CS:GO roster.
  • He will be filling the vacant spot left by Ethan, who left the organization earlier this week.
  • Obo used to play for Complexity before his sudden departure in 2020.

Owen “oBo” Schlatter is coming back to the CS:GO pro circuit after signing with North American organization Evil Geniuses. He is returning after a period of inactivity after his sudden departure from Complexity Gaming six months ago due to “undesirable” playing conditions in Europe. The 17-year-old pro will be EG’s replacement for Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, who left the organization and retired from CS:GO earlier this week to pursue a career in Valorant. OBo’s first game with EG will be in the Group Stages of the upcoming ESL Pro League S13, which will start on March 25.

EG sign oBo to replace Ethan

Evil Geniuses have officially found the piece to complete their CS:GO roster. They have signed 17-year-old pro oBo to fill the vacant spot in their lineup left by Ethan. EG is one of the few teams who had sudden roster changes before ESL Pro League S13, so it was only a matter of time before they found someone to complete the team for the upcoming tournament.

This will be oBo’s first time back in a CS:GO team in six months following his departure from Complexity Gaming. Obo left the team due to him not wanting to stay in Europe during the global pandemic, as the organization showed no interest in returning the team to North America. This would stand true as in 2021 since Complexity is being considered a European team, playing only in Europe and having only one North American left on the roster.

In December 2020, oBo publicly announced his interest to return to professional CS:GO, whether in a European or a North American team. The decision to join EG means he can stay in his home country, while occasionally traveling to Europe for different tournaments. Unlike Complexity, EG still plans to return to North America after their occasional trips to European Soil.

Complexity with oBo were able to win BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals, taking down the ZywOo led Vitality to claim the trophy. They also peaked at number 5 in the world on HLTV’s world team ranking. But when oBo left Complexity in Sept. 2020, they never saw that kind of success again.

Will oBo bring that success to EG? You can find out for yourself when EG take on Astralis on March 25 during Group D of the ESL Pro League Season 13
