Evil Geniuses’ rifler Ethan "Ethan" Arnold has left the North American organization, while also retiring from CS:GO and switching over to Valorant. The announcement which was made on March 1 was a huge surprise for many, and also a sign of the deteriorating state of competitive CS:GO in the region. EG’s social media announced that it was Ethan’s last day with the org, who have not had a great 2021 so far. The 20-year-old rifler later came out with his own statement confirming his departure, where he mentioned that “I will be leaving CS and officially moving over to Valorant starting today. I'm excited for this new challenge and I can't wait to give it my all over at 100Thieves.”

EG lose a young star to Valorant

Another professional CS:GO player has moved over to Riots’ online first-person shooter, Valorant. The 20-year-old North American rifler Ethan has decided to hang his boots in CS:GO after playing professionally since 2016, instead switching over to Valorant for the next chapter of his life. Ethan is the first Evil Geniuses player to leave the team since they acquired the former NRG lineup in Sept 2019. His departure comes after a series of poor performances by the squad in Europe so far in 2021.

Ethan who was the 20th best CS:GO player in the world of 2019, together with his previous team was able to accomplish 1st place finishes at cs_summit 3 and IEM Shanghai 2018 under the tag of NRG. After being acquired by EG they went on to secure victories at ESL One New York 2019, StarSeries i-League Season 8, BLAST Premier Spring 2020 Americas Finals, cs_summit 6-North America, and ESL One Cologne 2020-North America.

Ethan joins 100 Thieves’ Valorant roster

The move was first revealed when the official Evil Geniuses Twitter account posted a tweet saying “Thank you” to Ethan, and stating that it would be his last day as a member of the organization. 

Ethan later came out with his own public statement soon after the tweet was posted. In it, he confirms his move to Valorant and reveals that he will be joining the 100 Thieves Valorant roster.

“I will be leaving CS and officially moving over to VALORANT starting today. I've met many people through CS that I can now call friends and I'm extremely grateful for that. I've also made unforgettable memories that some people could only dream of experiencing. The one thing I ask is if you've supported me this long, you follow me into the next chapter of my career and I promise I will not let you down. I'm excited for this new challenge and I can't wait to give it my all over at 100Thieves."
