The playoffs stage of the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020 for the East Asia region is currently underway.
A total of 8 teams are competing in the playoffs stage, 4 directly invited teams and 4 teams making their way through the open qualifiers.
The winners of the East Asian region will be declared later today.

The East Asian leg of the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020 has already reached the semifinal stage. The event which was originally slated to take place last weekend from 14-16 Jan got hit with a few delays, but this has not affected the competitive spirit of the teams even a bit.

The tournament witnessed some changes in its qualifying process due to which the main event was rescheduled to take place from 22-24 Jan. Despite the setback the competition is going strong between the 8 participating teams, 4 of which are Chinese while the other 4 are Mongolian. Here is a quick rundown of the tournament leading up to the semi-final stage which is all set to take place tomorrow.

ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020: East Asia

The playoffs stage of the tournament has observed participation from a total of 8 CS:GO teams, 4 of which were directly invited while the remaining 4 made their way through the various qualifiers. China was a part of the East Asian region this year due to the entire tournament being played online but despite this, the Mongolian teams held their own pretty well.

The directly invited teams are some of the best from the region. The three Chinese teams invited are After Gaming, Lynn Vision Gaming, and Wings Up Gaming, some of the best ‘Tier-2’ teams from China while the one invited from Mongolia is TIGER, probably the strongest team competing in the playoff.

The qualifiers were really competitive as well with some recognizable names making their way through them. The Mongolian qualifiers witnessed teams like Checkmate, D13, and The Black Company coming into the playoffs, while the Chinese qualifier was won by UNICO Esports.

With 4 teams each from the 2 regions (China and Mongolia), all the opening matches were a faceoff between a Chinese and a Mongolian team. Unfortunately, the tradeoff was not even as 3 Mongolians teams made their way to the semifinals while only one 1 Chinese teams could manage a victory.

TIGER, Checkmate, The Black Company, and Wings Up Gaming, are the four teams that will be squaring off against each other in the semifinals. The winners will proceed to take each other on in the grand final scheduled to take place later today.

VERTEX Esports Club and Paper Rex have already been crowned as the champions of ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020 for Oceania and Southeast Asia, respectively. With the East Asia champions being declared later today, only two more regions will be left out South Asia and the Middle East.
