DreamHack Masters Jönköping Announced with a $250,000 Prize Pool

DreamHack after announcing the dates for all Open tournaments taking place next year has gone ahead and announced the first Masters event of 2020 as well. DreamHack Masters Jönköping is scheduled to take place next year in the month of June with a total prize pool of $250,000 on the line.

The tournament scheduled to take place from 9^th - 14^th June will be a part of the DreamHack Summer Festival, which will be hosting a Masters event instead of an Open. The tournament will be held at the Kinnarps Arena, which has a seating capacity of 7,000 people.

DreamHack Masters Jönköping is a part of the ESL Pro Tour, which is built around DreamHack and ESL CS:GO tournaments. This particular event is a Masters level tournament, the sixteen teams which will be participating in it will be decided via a combination of direct invites, regional qualifiers and through the DreamHack Open tournaments.

For this Masters tournament, teams from DreamHack Leipzig (24^th - 26^th January) and DreamHack Anaheim (21^st - 23^rd February) will be considered. Whereas teams competing at Jönköping will earn points based on their placement, which will help them secure a slot for ESL One Cologne 2020, a Masters Championship level tournament taking place in Cologne, Germany, in July.

Jönköping has a deep history with counter-strike, with the first-ever Valve sanctioned CS:GO Major taking place in the city, as part of DreamHack Winter 2013. The tournament turned out to be a great setting for the home crowd, as everyone witnessed a derby match-up in the finale, with the two Swedish giants, Fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas going up against each other, and Fnatic securing the title.
