The Malaysian esport team, Battle Arena Malaysia has recently acquired their first-ever female CS:GO roster, Battle Arena Elites Sphynx, who will be competing in the CS:GO circuit. BAE Sphynx is the ex-Orange.Sphynx roster with a few changes to its roster.

Formed back in 2017, the Sphynx line-up has been actively participating in many competitive CS:GO tournaments, most recently seen in action at the ZOWIE DIVINA Women’s Asia CS:GO Championship 2019 for which the team was directly invited, they stood second at the event to qualify for DreamHack Showdown Valencia 2019, getting an opportunity to represent Malaysia at an international stage.

Following up on their international appearance the Malaysian female CS:GO team has gone on to qualify through Lenovo Legion of Valkyries - Malaysian Qualifier and will be playing in the main event scheduled to take place in Pantip Plaza, Bangkok, Thailand. This will also be their first tournament as part of Battle Arena Malaysia.

Tiffani Lim, Head of Marketing & PR, Battle Arena Malaysia, had a few things to say about their decision of picking up an all-female team,

“The journey to becoming full-time professional esports players has always been difficult for females - very few parties would be willing to stake their resources in a team of female athletes to carry their brand. Some of us here at Battle Arena has experienced these struggles in the past, and now it is our ardent wish that this generation of players can unleash their full potential and pursue their dream fearlessly, and tread the road that we did not have a chance to go down.

Between BAE and Sphynx, we are aligned in our visions. And it's only with complete, mutual trust between the organization and the team that together, they'll be able to soar to greater heights.”

The only major change between the new and the old line-up is the change in captaincy as Ramona “gfi” Azween steps out of the team, handing over the role to Aisya “Argent” Sabrina.

The final BAE Sphynx roster is as follows,

  • Nurul “Ayumiii” Aini

  • Aisya “Argent” Sabrina

  • Shanice “Alaska” Choo

  • Jasmine Christina “Jazminism” Sim

  • Ng “maye” May Yee

  • Iffah “3ve;” Nazurah

  • Narinpal “Fluckz” Singh [Coach]
