Philippines and Thailand reign supreme at the WCG 2019 APAC Finals

Cignal Ultra from the Philippines and MSCerebrus from Thailand became the two teams with the most points at the WCG 2019 APAC Finals and will be moving onto the next and final stage. The format involved 8 teams playing a bo1 round-robin stage with the top 2 teams moving onto the next stage.


Out of the 8 teams, Australian side, Athletico Esports were a no show and didn’t attend the event.  The Filippino side, Cignal Ultra, featuring names like Nando and Grimszx placed top of the table with 6 wins and just 1 loss. MSCerebrus took second place with 5 wins and 2 losses. In fact, the scores were tied with the 3rd placed team, Unicorn, but the Thai squad moved on based on head-to-head results.


India’s Signify occupied 4th place with 4 wins and 3 losses while Geek Fam, PrimeMGL and AlterEgo made up the rest of the table.


Both Cignal Ultra and MSCerebrus will now play in the main event, alongside teams from the Americas qualifiers, Europe qualifiers and China qualifiers. The main event takes place from the 18th of July at Xi’an, China and has a prize pool of 140,000 USD.
