While the first Dota 2 Pro Circuit season has come to a close and the qualifiers for the first ever Canadian TI have also concluded. We have the 18 teams who have qualified for the eighth iteration of The International, who are preparing for the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year.

So there has been a drought in terms of Dota 2 tournaments for the community. Sure, Gorgc and EternaLEnVy streams might help, but we really needed a big Dota 2 tournament to help us tide over this huge break. MPGL has delivered in that respect.

The Grand Finals of the MPGL Asian Championships has finally kicked off with four teams: Execration, Clutch Gamers, EVOS Esports and Keen Gaming battling for the $80,000 prizepool in Khon Kaen, Thailand in one of the bigger SEA LANs.

The Teams

Execration hasn’t really been performing as well as their potential could allow them. It has been quite a while since the SEA team last tasted success. This represents a prime opportunity to claim one last LAN title before the season comes to a close.

The Filipino team who qualified for The International 7 didn’t even come close this season. This is a chance for them to reclaim some of that lost pride.

Roster: Nando, Karl, EWE, Grimzx, Kim0

Most recent LAN performance: 5-8th place finish in the World Cyber Arena.

First opponent: Keen Gaming

Clutch Gamers

This SEA - EU alliance was extremely consistent through the last set of qualifiers taking games off SEA powerhouses, TNC Predator and Fnatic. But they unfortunately just couldn’t land the final blow and manage to get themselves to any of the DPC events or The International 8.

This is the last chance for Skylark and co. to claim a title in the SEA.

Roster: Gabbi, Skylark, Boombacs, yol, Ahjit

Most recent LAN performance: They haven’t qualified for any

First opponent: EVOS Esports

EVOS Esports

EVOS Esports made it to this stage after a stellar performance in the playoffs of the MPGL regular season. They had to beat TaskUs Titans and Geek Fam to get themselves to the LAN event. Will they be able to carry on that momentum and give us all a great performance in this event?

Roster: ilLogic, Facehugger, Aville, Vlaicu, Whitemon

Most recent LAN performance: 7-8th in the Indonesia Games Championship 2018

First opponent: Clutch Gamers

Keen Gaming

Keen Gaming is the sole direct invitee/Chinese representative in this event. Keen Gaming were quite impressive throughout the season. Managing to win a couple of Chinese qualifiers and get themselves into DPC events. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make it to The International 8 after bombing out in the Chinese qualifiers

Roster: Mevius, ?, dark, yoona, ??

Most recent LAN performance: 2nd place at the GESC:Thailand Dota 2 Minor

First opponent: Execration
