After a solid start to the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor on Day 1, Mineski’s fortunes would take a turn to the worse on Day 2.
After dropping their opening match of the day, 2-0, against Ninjas in Pyjamas (who have already qualified for TI9) despite putting up one hell of a fight in Game 2, Mineski was set to play Team Sirius in a fight for survival.
Mineski would have to win this game to keep their chances of grabbing a direct invite to TI9, alive.
Team Sirius was quick to show that they meant business, picking up a fast-paced lineup that could mow down towers featuring Sylar on his Lone Druid and ASD on his Templar Assassin.
Mineski responded with a cheesy Huskar pick for Moon (Attempting to counter ASD’s TA) and built their lineup around enabling him. But Team Sirius threw a wrench into Mineski’s well laid-out plans by sending their TA to the Jungle early and allowing him to pick up a ton of farm. Mineski simply had no answer for Team Sirius’ deathball as they mowed down towers and dominated the map before closing out the game with an emphatic teamwipe.
The second game saw Team Sirius adapt the same approach picking up a push-heavy lineup with a Leshrac and Sylar’s signature Lycan.
Team Sirius continued their solid play with some immaculate shot-calling and rotations, as they took the second game with ease to book a place in the Upper brackets.
With this loss, Mineski has been eliminated from the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor. The team cannot amass enough DPC points to directly qualify for TI9. They’ll have to try making it through the solitary SEA qualifier.
