The Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup has been a staple in the Indian Dota scene for a few years now and it returns in 2017, promising a lot more action and oomph this time around.

After 3 successful years of hosting one of the most prestigious Dota 2 tournaments, TE Gaming Cup 2017 will now feature both CS:GO and Dota 2. Let’s remind you why both fans and players love this particular tournament.
  1. It was one of the first large scale Dota 2 tournaments in the country with a substantial prize pool. It’s held by the Taiwan Excellence initiative, which is a directly under the Taiwan government and includes some really big players in the consumer electronics market. (Zowie, ADATA, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI) just to name a few.
  2. The TE Gaming Cup is going to be held at Infiniti Mall in Mumbai and teams from all around the country are flown in and given accommodation as well. The format gives opportunities to teams from all over the country with qualifiers being held in different cities
TE CUP 2017
The 2017 edition will feature 8 Dota 2 teams and 8 CS:GO teams who will fight it out for a shot at the 10 lakh dollar prize pool. The breakup of prize money for both the games is as follows:

In Dota 2, A5 and Size 35 (ROG Titans) look like the clear favorites but expect some upset potential from teams like Buriza and Go Figure. This will be A5’s first LAN with Deliverance, as A35 has now officially joined the ROG Titans roster. It will also be the first time that Raunak ‘Crowley’ Sen will not get his hands on the trophy, as his team will be attending the ASUS ROG Masters tournament in Manila. This also means that A35 and Evil Ash could both pick up their 3rd consecutive TE Cup title!

The 8 teams who will play at the tournament are Aggressive 5, Giff Sponsor, Buriza, Ferocious, Go Figure, Buriza Youth, Size 35 and White Shadows.

The inaugural season of CS:GO however looks much more even with teams like Shooting Monkeys, TMG and SemperX all in the mix. The SemperX stack looks straight up old school, with Manan, MithilF, Kappa, Impale and PokerF in it.

The 8 teams for CS:GO are: Shooting Monkeys, VAC Banned, God Particles, Elements, Makeway, SemperX, TmG and SRA.

The Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup will take place on the 27th and 28th of October at Infiniti Mall in Malad, Mumbai. Drop by and cheer for the teams and do remember to come up and say hi to any one you spot wearing an afkgaming shirt!!
