For those of you who have not been counting, here's a reminder -- it has been almost six months since Valve introduced Ranked Matchmaking seasons. What that means is that we are probably close to an MMR reset to your Dota 2 rank.
If you're still finding yourself confused, it's probably because you may not remember Valve's announcement regarding the Seasonal Ranked Update late last year. Here’s a short refresher.
Valve introduced a new seasonal tiered system for Ranked matchmaking seasons way back on 22 November 2017. It was called as the “inaugural six-month Ranked Season”, which implied that the ranked tiers will only last up until 22 May 2018. However, that 6-month mark has come and passed with no signs of an incoming patch.
Perhaps they’re waiting for the normal Patch day – Thursday. Normally, we'd also be due for another fortnightly patch today but, since the ESL One Birmingham 2018 Major has kicked off, any balance changes will be delayed till the next week. Maybe Valve will bundle the MMR reset along with the balance patch.
Or maybe Valve will just go ahead and blow the MMR reset bomb today. Not being calibrated won't have any effect on pros in lobby games, so realistically there's nothing holding Valve back. They could just release it today.
So if you have not yet reached your desired rank this season, it's probably about time to buckle up since you'll probably only have days/hours left to do so.
