16 Teams will take part in this major, with eight qualifier teams and eight direct invites. The winners of the 6 regional qualifiers (NA, SA, EU, CIS, China, SEA) automatically secure their place in the main event. Furthermore, the winners and runners-up of the New Blood Championships, along with the CIS and European qualifiers runners-up will also be at the LAN to battle for two wildcard spots to enter the main event of the Galaxy Battles Major 2018.

This means organizers intend to pack a 16-team main event into three days. This probably means that the main event will have a single elimination bracket.
The Direct Invites:
The 4-time major winning team has been doing quite well for themselves in European regional qualifiers for various tournaments. They have earned their invite as a result.
The runner-ups of TI7 haven’t had much of a chance to showcase their skill in the post-TI7 scenario, but they are still a reasonable invite.
This SEA team has been underperforming ever since their strong showing in TI7, having failed to qualify for a single LAN this season. Their invite is quite questionable. But stretching it, we can let it pass considering it's a Filipino event.
The truly baffling invite amongst these 4. Infamous haven't got past results to speak of besides attending TI7 and winning the DreamLeague Season 8 SA Qualifier last week. Perhaps their participation in the last Galaxy Battles tournament played a part in securing their invite.
The four remaining direct invites will be announced at a later date.
The Regional qualifiers for the event are scheduled to commence mid-November and are expected to run for approximately one month.
A music festival and various Dota-themed activities will also take place alongside the tournament in the Philippines Arena, Manila.
