A lot more CIS flair has just been added to the Epicenter XL – Dota 2 Major now that another Russian team has gained a spot.
FlyToMoon is the last team to qualify for this tournament, which will take place from April 27 to May 6 in the massive VTB Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. To qualify for the $1,000,000 event, they survived the mad gauntlet that was the Epicenter XL: Madness Qualifier beating Vega Squadron, Double Dimension, and closing out the bracket against Team Kinguin.
FlyToMoon prevailed over several of the finest teams from NA, SA, SEA, EU, and CIS to grab this slot. ALWAYSWANNAFLY, nofear, nongrata, silent and Iceberg were all in fine form as they took on and beat team after team to make it to the first ever Russian Major.
Fnatic, VGJ.Storm, and TNC Pro Team are notable teams that were absent from the qualifier due to schedule conflicts amongst other issues.
FlyToMoon joins an intensely-competitive list of teams already with spots in this tournament. That lineup consists of Team Liquid, Team Secret, Newbee, Natus Vincere and Virtus Pro who were all directly invited to the event. Mineski, Team Empire, Complexity Gaming, OG, paiN Gaming, LGD Gaming and FlyToMoon had to win their respective qualifiers to make it. This brings the number of CIS teams attending the Major to 4 teams. With just 12 teams competing at this event, CIS has a great shot at grabbing a lot of DPC points from this event.
Now that all of the participants have been determined, the stage is set for twelve of the world’s best Dota 2 ?teams to showcase their skill at Epicenter XL and grab the last few points for the DPC invites.
