Fnatic took on Vega Squadron today in the third round of the FACEIT Major New Legends Stage

Both the teams were drawn together in the mid bracket winning and losing a match each, against Winstrike, CompLexity & Cloud9, Astralis respectively. Today’s match was crucial for both the teams as the loser would drop down to the low bracket and would be facing an eliminator tomorrow.

The teams squared off on Inferno in the BO1 match-up.

Making Of A Comeback

Vega Squadron started off really strong winning the first seven rounds in succession. Fnatic took time to adjust to Vega’s relentless aggression, finally winning the eighth round and followed up with two more to bring the scores to ‘3-7’. The next four rounds were equally exchanged between the two teams, with Vega concluding the first half by taking the last round.

The second half started with Fnatic winning the pistol round and stringing three more rounds together to close in on Vega’s lead. Vega took the next two rounds as Fnatic pushed them back with a five-round streak, taking the lead for the first time. Vega did manage to draw the scores at ‘14-14’ by winning two crucial rounds but Fnatic remained patient outplaying Vega in the following two rounds to win the match ‘16-14’.

Fnatic sigh in relief after a really good performance moves them one victory away from qualifying onto the playoffs, while Vega Squadron gets ready to face an eliminator match-up tomorrow in the low bracket.
