eXTREMESLAND 2018 - D13 Esports to represent Mongolia in Shanghai

The Mongolian Qualifier for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2018 came to an end yesterday on 9th September with D13 Esports making it through as the winners of the qualifier. 

The Mongolian Qualifier was a closed tournament comprising of 8 invited teams. The teams invited were as follows: 

  • LAN Esport 

  • SSP 

  • LEGAM 

  • MindControl 

  • D13 Esports 

  • StormRiders (ex-Mongolz) 

  • EPLS (Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy) 

  • 29/90 Esports 

The qualifier was divided into 2 parts, the group stage followed by the playoffs.

Group Stage 

For the group stage, the 8 teams were divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. Both the groups followed a round robin format with top 2 teams from each group making it onto the playoffs.

All the matches were a BO1 except for the decider matches which were a BO3. 

From Group-A the teams making it through to the qualifier were D13 Esports & 12/90 Esports whereas from Group-B the teams that finished in the top two were StormRiders & EPSL.


The playoffs witnessed the 4 teams making it through the group stage engage in a single elimination BO3 bracket.

Semi-Final 1

The first semifinal took place between 29/90 Esports and StormRiders (ex-Mongolz). The first match was played on Cache which saw 29/90 Esports come out as victors with the scores reading ‘16-8’. The second match took place on Mirage with 29/90 Esports winning again with a score of ‘16-9’

29/90 Esports moved on to the Grand Finale by taking the BO3 series ‘2-0’ as StormRiders were eliminated.

Semi-Final 2

The second semifinal was played between D13 Esports and EPLS. The first match went into overtime on Cache with EPLS winning by a score of ‘18-15’. The second match was played on Nuke where D13 Esports came out on top winning the match ‘16-9’. The do-or-die match witnessed D13 Esports come out as victors scoring ‘16-8’ on Dust 2

D13 Esports qualify for the Grand Finale winning the BO3 series ‘2-1’ as EPLS crash out of the qualifiers.

Grand Finals

The first match between 29/90 and D13 Esports took place on Nuke with D13 winning the match ‘16-13’. The second match saw D13 comeback from a great deficit to take the match into overtime and win it by a score of ‘19-15’ on Inferno.

With this, D13 Esports win the Mongolian Qualifiers and will be travelling to Shanghai for the Main Event where they will represent Mongolia while competing for the $100,000 prize pool.
