After the success of ESL One Birmingham in 2018, one of the first big esports events in the UK,  ESL has decided that the event will return for another year in 2019. However, unlike last year, it doesn’t seem like the 2019 edition is a DPC event as the dates that have been announced do not match with the DPC calendar released by Valve earlier.

ESL One Birmingham will be a 12 team event with a prize pool of $ 300,000
. The event will run from May 28th to June 2nd and falls in between the end of the qualifiers and the start of the last Minor-Major pair for this season. The qualifiers for the event will take place in March and April and the event will even have open qualifiers for EU, NA, China and SEA.

“We witnessed unimaginable levels of support from the UK community which genuinely surprised us all earlier this year. We’re working on implementing improvements and some additional surprise features based on superb feedback from the community this year.” - James Dean, Managing Director at ESL UK
