DPC rules changed: 2 teams from the Starladder Ukraine Minor will qualify for the Epicenter Major

Up until the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major, the number of slots that each region received for Majors remained a constant. 15 teams qualified for each Major through regional qualifiers: 3 teams each from Europe, China and North America and 2 teams each from CIS, SEA and South America. 1 team qualified as the champion of the Minor preceding the Major.

However, after multiple complaints from the Dota 2 community, Valve has finally decided to change the regional slot allocations for the Epicenter Major.

Epicenter has just announced that Europe and China (which have accumulated most of the DPC points on offer this DPC season) will receive 3 invites each, whilst NA, SEA, SA and CIS will all receive 2 invites each.

Two teams from the last DPC Minor of this season: The Starladder Ukraine Minor, will qualify for the last major of the season.

The open qualifiers for the Epicenter Major have already concluded. The regional qualifiers for the Major will kick off in just two days, on 15th May 2019.

Author’s Opinion: This is certainly a good step towards rectifying the regional slots debacle, it reduces the chances of undeserving teams racking up 150 DPC points each time they finish in last place at a Major and getting to TI9 based on that (J.storm). However, it might just be too late.
