Almost There secured a well-deserved spot in the LAN Finals of the COBX Masters - Dota2, taking down ROG Titans in the grand finals of the India Open Qualifiers 2-1. The squad comprising of Indian+SEA players, are widely rumored to be picked up by a known org and have been playing under the Almost There tag in qualifiers
This indeed will be a big achievement for Zapheto, Moon and Divine, who will be playing in what is yet to be their biggest tournament till date. They are joined by 2 Filippino players, HMY and Luciano, both of whom have been playing in tier 2-3 teams in SEA.
In the grand finals, AT took the lead in the series with Moon’s Morphling leading the charge. ROG needed to control the map better with their Tiny and Nightstalker, but were unable to get the ball rolling, eventually falling flat in the mid-game. ROG struck back in game 2, on the back of Zxc’s PA and he critted his way to a win, tying up the series.
In game 3, Moon dominated the mid-lane matchup on his Batrider and made effective rotations to get key core kills. This along with Almost There’s offlane BH, gave the team a solid gold and XP lead which they abused in teamfights. With Zxc’s Troll trailing a good 10k behind the enemy Jugg, fights became really hard for ROG and the game spiralled out of control.
Almost There now joins Signify, Tigers, DeToNator and Exclamation Mark as the 5th team in the COBX Masters LAN Finale. Another team in TBA.
COBX Masters will be one of the biggest LANs held in India, featuring a prize pool of 200,000$ split evenly between Dota 2 and CS :GO . The LAN will take place from the 5th to the 7th of April at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. A total of 6 teams will be attending the LAN for each title.
