Day 1 of the Chongqing Major SEA Opens saw 64 teams try out for the coveted spots at the Regionals. While it’s hard to see any team making it out of the SEA Regionals other than TNC, Fnatic and Tigers for the moment, the SEA Open Qualifiers have always been one of the more intense ones out there.

Team Admiral, who have 2 new players, are on par for their 2nd successful OQ run after making it through for the SEA Regionals for the KL Major. The team has brought in Jobeezy as the new 5, while Bensoy takes on the carry role. The team took on Mineski in the quarterfinals and were able to come out on top. Mineski still seem to be unable to shake of the blues and the departure of Mushi doesn’t seem to have done them too much good as they played with Net as a standin.

Admiral take on Vietnam’s 496, who themselves had a stellar run in the brackets. The team edged out strong competitors like Clutch Gamers and Sterling Global Dragons in their run to the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket are BOOM ID, who took down fellow Indonesians, EVOS Esports to book their spot in the semifinals.

DTN vs Veteran’s remains the only quarterfinals match to be played out. SamH’s new team were able to take down Execration on their way while their opponents eliminated HappyFeet from the competition. The winner of the matchup will take on BOOM ID.

Both semi-finals are going to be the deciding matchups as the 2 winners will move onto the Regionals which are to begin on the 25th of this month.
