The CS:GO groups for Cobx Masters has just been announced with both the Indian teams split evenly inbetween the two groups.

The six teams participating in the event have been divided into two groups of three teams. The first group consists of MVP PK, Signify CS:GO & Alpha Red whereas the second group is made up of Grayhound Gaming, B.O.O.T-d[S] & Global Esports.

Initially, the date for releasing the groups made me think that this was probably a prank but that was quickly dismissed as Cobx can’t be whiling away its time with the event only 4 days away now.

I think splitting the Indian teams into a group each has certainly given a slight advantage to the home teams. I don’t want to point fingers at anyone but I think there should have been some transparent procedure to divide the teams into groups.

The teams could have been split based on team-based seeding, something we all witnessed at the recently concluded Katowice Major. The other method could have been a good old blind draw to set up a random group.

Anyway, let’s see how the following groups roll out. Though do keep in mind that the Group Stages follow multiple best-of-one series which allows a huge room for major upsets to take place.

Stay tuned as we keep everyone up to date with the Cobx Masters which are just 4 days away from starting, taking place from 5th-7th April at the Mumbai Exhibition Center, Mumbai.
