The Pokemon UNITE Championship Series 2023 has been officially announced featuring more regional qualifiers and also features $1 million USD worth of prizes with half of it awarded at the world series event. The best teams from Asia-Pacific, Brazil, Europe, Japan, Latin America North & South, North America, Oceania, South Korea, and India will compete in the tournament for the title of world champion at Yokohama, Japan. Regional qualifiers will be held in February 2023 with the world championships to be held in August 2023, and will be played alongside popular Pokemon franchises such as the official Trading Card Game (TCG) and Pokemon GO.
The official Twitter handle of the Pokemon UNITE Championship series announced its plans to expand the tournament and include more regions. A total of 11 regions will be competing for the world championship for the year 2023.
According to the official tournament website, the Pokemon UNITE Championship series 2023 will be held in Yokohama, Japan and will feature over $1 million USD in prizes, including $500,000 at the World Championship.
Multiple qualifier events will be held per region each month. Players will compete to earn Championship Points (CP) in order to qualify for the next stage. The teams with the most CP at the end of all the tournaments will secure a slot in the world championship. Individual players will retain their CP in case they change teams during the season.
Registration for the Pokemon UNITE Championship Series 2023 regional qualifiers will be announced at a later date. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates in the future.
