On February 8th, Old Skool player “AAYUSH” was caught using hacks by Free Fire’s in-game anti-cheat system and was suspended. The player was competing in the Free Fire India Championship 2021 Spring event and has been disqualified by the organizers. The Free Fire Esports India team banned AAYUSH from all Garena Free Fire tournaments until February 7th, 2022, and has also been removed from the ongoing Free Fire India Championship. Old Skool will be replaced by Stone Crushers who have been given a direct qualification to the closed qualifiers. The organizers have updated the final 18 teams (6 invited 12 from closed qualifiers) who are heading to the League stage of the event.
Here are the top 12 teams that are heading to the League via the closed qualifiers.
The FFIC 2021 will feature a total of five stages that will feature the best teams in the region. All matches in the first two stages are played in the Battle Royale Squad Mode. After the first two stages participants have been competing in the Free Fire Cup (FFC) mode. The final 18 teams have been finalised with 12 teams heading in via the closed qualifiers and six teams heading to the League via invites.
The 18 qualifying teams including Stone Crushers who have now replaced Old Skool will be competing at the League Stage. The League stage is set to kick off on February 19th and the teams will be divided into three groups of six teams each. The groups will feature round-robin matches for nine days. The top two teams from each of the groups will head to the grand finals while the other teams will take part in the play-ins from March 14 to take up the other six grand finals spots.
The FFIC 2021 Spring Grand Finals will see these 12 teams battle for a share of the INR 75,00,000 prize pool on March 21, 2020. The top-performing teams at the FFIC 2021 Spring will get the coveted opportunity to represent the region at Free Fire’s next international tournament. The top six from FFIC 2021 Spring will also qualify directly for the Free Fire Pro League Summer.
