SuperGaming has revealed information about its next big project, Indus, which is a battle royale game that will be available across multiple platforms like PC, mobile, and console. The studio has further confirmed a 2022 release date, while sharing a small clip of the game's intro across their official social media platforms.

The Pune-based studio described Indus as "a made-in-India for-the-world battle royale". This is because the game is being developed with a focus on Indian culture but with a futuristic twist, catering to a gaming audience from across the globe.

Further, the developer states that their intent is to deliver both a deep lore and sense of a place that is very distinct but still relatable. It shall feature guns and gameplay systems that one would expect from any modern-day battle royale.

At the moment, there is still very limited information related to the actual gameplay of Indus. However, SuperGaming will be sharing the inner workings as the game develops - "candid, raw, and unexaggerated".

Indus, made in India battle royale announced by SuperGaming

Indus is a free-to-play battle royale in an indo-futuristic setting that will be catering to a global audience across all major platforms like PC, mobile, and console. This announcement by SuperGaming is preceded by hit games like MaskGun (5.74 lakh downloads on Google Play Store) and Silly Royale (1.26 lakh downloads on Google Play Store), which were focused towards social and multiplayer interactions.

Roby John - Co-Founder and CEO at SuperGaming, explained via a series of tweets his views and thoughts on Indus as the studio ventures into the raging battle royale genre.

Labeling the project as "the most ambitious game built in Indian gaming so far," John revealed that their take on the battle royale genre is inspired from Indian history, culture, and indo-futurism.

John decided to take this route as there are only a select few battle royale games that put an emphasis on both lore and story, yet there are none that "tackle Indian culture with a futuristic twist". He hopes to create a distinct world based on deep lore, while still keeping it relatable for the gaming audience.

He further reveals that the team working on Indus is the biggest at SuperGaming and that they have already managed to make a lot of progress, testing their first playable version of the game on 25th November 2021.
