Alter Ego (AE) went up against Action PH at the grand finals of The Esports Club’s (TEC) Valorant Challenger Series #6 event on 24th December 2021 and secured a comfortable 3-0 victory. The Indonesian roster has become one of the strongest competitors in The Esports Club’s recent events which feature teams from South Asia and Southeast Asia. AE made its way through the SEA qualifiers and went undefeated in the playoffs. The team is taking home $10,000 USD out of the $20,000 USD prize pool.
The best of five series between both teams ended with Alter Ego taking three consecutive wins and ending the matchup 3-0. Action PH (AP) lost against Alter Ego in the first matchup at the upper bracket quarterfinals. Action PH avoided elimination against the hands of Fallen 5 to make it back to the grand finals but it could not keep up with a dominant Alter Ego roster.
Map One (Split) - Alter Ego won 13-10
Map Two (Ascent) - Alter Ego won 13-12
Map Three (Fracture) - Alter Ego won 13-2
The first two matchups were very close with Alter Ego barely making it past a resilient Action PH side. But it felt like AE’s momentum was too much for Action PH to handle with the third map turning out to be a 13-2 bout in AE’s favor.
Fracture is the newest map in Valorant and it feels like Alter Ego has a solid grasp on positioning in the map. Most teams are yet to make themselves comfortable on the new map and it becomes a deciding factor at the highest levels of play.
Alter Ego came third at The Esports Club Showdown and it bounced back with a win at Challenger Series #6. The team will take home $10,000 out of the $20,000 prize pool while Action PH has been awarded $4,000.
