Sentinels had a dream run at VCT Reykjavík with a flawless win streak at the event and Cloud9’s TenZ played a critical role in the team’s success. The player announced his departure from competitive Valorant earlier this year but went on to become a temporary replacement for Sinatraa, who is currently suspended from the Sentinels roster. After his success with Sentinels at VCT Reykjavík, fans have been waiting to find out if TenZ will transfer from Cloud9 to Sentinels. In a recent press conference, TenZ shared his thoughts on staying with Sentinels.
After NA emerged victorious over EU at Valorant’s first-ever major LAN event at Reykjavík with Sentinels taking the victory over Fnatic, TenZ shared his thoughts on the roster. He said “This team is amazing” and that he would “love to stay with Sentinels if I could. I hope that I can. I am praying.”
He went into detail on how good the chemistry is between him and his teammates at Sentinels and called it the best team he has played on. Sentinels In-Game Leader Shahzeb "ShahZam" Khan praised TenZ’s achievements with the team as well and said that he wants him to keep playing with Sentinels. ShahZam is not sure what the future holds for Sentinels but he was hopeful about a potential transfer and said “we will see what happens".
Sentinels’ Sinatraa was suspended earlier this year after his ex-girlfriend Cleo "cle0h" Hernandez accused the Valorant pro of sexual assault. Unless there are new developments in the investigation, Sinatraa will be able to return to competitive Valorant on September 10. The administrative suspension was handed by Riot Games back on March 10 and the information was made public by the studio earlier this month.
Riot Games and Sentinels have been conducting independent investigations and have not found sufficient evidence to declare him guilty. Investigations are still ongoing and it is unknown what the future holds for the player. But if Sentinels plans on letting Sinatraa re-join as a permanent member of the squad, TenZ might not be considered for a long-term contract.
Considering the impact TenZ has had on the Sentinels roster, a potential buyout by Sentinels to make him part of the active roster could see transfer records being broken. There have been rumors of his buyout clause being as high as $5 million. However, Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne reportedly dismissed the rumors and claimed that the alleged buyout figure was "rubbish". Regardless, TenZ is considered by many as the number one player in Valorant esports right now and it will not shock anyone if Sentinels is willing to spend the big bucks on the star player.
