North American esports organization Sentinels is reportedly negotiating a deal to retain Cloud9’s Tyson “TenZ” Ngo as part of an extended loan deal. The move would allow TenZ to compete in the ongoing Valorant Champions Tour events. The player was brought in from Cloud9 after Jay “Sinatraa” Won was benched by Sentinels due to sexual harassment allegations. TenZ has left an immediate impact on Sentinels and has helped Sentinels become one of the top contenders at the Valorant Champions Tour. A buyout value of $5 million was reported recently but Cloud9’s CEO Jack Etienne has dismissed the buyout tag for TenZ.
TenZ was originally playing for Cloud9 in 2020. The pro player was regarded as the best Valorant player at the time and is still arguably worthy of the title. He quit his pro career earlier this year to focus on streaming, stating that he wants to move into content creation. He had the highest combat score in all Ignition series tournaments he participated in and has been an all-star performer. Unfortunately, he could not win Valorant First Strike with Cloud 9 despite his valiant efforts in nearly every match.
With sexual harassment allegations against Sentinel’s Sinatraa forcing the organization to bench the pro player during the investigation, TenZ was signed to fill in temporarily. According to journalist Tyler Erzberger Cloud9 set Tenz’ buyout at approximately $2 million ahead of the VCT Stage 2 qualifiers. Daily Esports revealed that the figure could now be set at $5 million but the rumours were soon squashed by Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne.
Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne revealed that the buyout figure was rubbish and that no deal has been made just yet. However, it is possible that Sentinels makes an offer for the 19-year-old Canadian player to make him a full-time member of the squad.
If TenZ is signed into the Sentinels roster, this is what the team would look like:
It is currently unknown if Sinatraa will make it back to the squad. Investigations are still ongoing and TenZ has been performing very well under the Sentinels banner. The team is looking like one of the strongest contenders heading into the VCT main events and they have a chance to become the first-ever global Valorant Champions.
