The ROG Academy program that seeks to help aspiring esports professionals has just been announced. ASUS has partnered with AFK Gaming, SoStronk, and prominent esports personalities to launch India's program to help bolster the Indian esports community. Players will get the opportunity to learn from the best and kickstart their careers via the three-month program. Everyone from India will have the opportunity to sign up and compete for a spot in the program. For the first batch, the ROG Academy will be focussing on CS:GO.
The program will help aspiring pros with the knowledge, awareness, and peripherals to become a pro player for the country.
Candidates who sign up via the open registration forms will be shortlisted based on their responses. The Application screening will be done based on their theoretical knowledge. The players will then have to showcase their skills in the tryouts and then be judged based on their performances.
The top 20 players from the tryouts will be placed in 4 teams and closely monitored by the judges. Based on their performances, the ROG Academy will then sign six members from the top 20.
There are four perks that you get as a ROG Academy member. These include:
Direct Access to Experts: Experienced professionals (Agneya "Marzil" Koushik and Prashant "Aequitas" Prabhakar) who have been a part of national and international events and will be guiding academy members every step of the way.
Comprehensive Curriculum: A core curriculum has been set up by ROG and its partners to ensure Academy members have an understanding of the highest level of competition.
ROG Support: ROG will offer free equipment and a monthly stipend to the final six members of ROG Academy.
3-Month Long Session: Academy members will have access to a three-month learning experience and work with industry experts.
The application process will be role-based, with in-game leaders (IGLs) being preferred. Players can select multiple roles as CS:GO is a complex game, and a hybrid role is welcome.
A SoStronk account is mandatory to sign up for the academy program.
ASUS ROG Academy is made possible through a partnership between ROG, AFK Gaming and esports professionals who will be part of the program. Asus India Business Head Arnold Su revealed that the ROG Academy program is meant to “contribute positively towards the esports ecosystem by assisting and training budding gamers, providing them with a platform to translate their aspiration into reality.”
