15 Million More People Watched The Game Awards 2019 Than The Oscars

The Game Awards 2019, which took place earlier in December was watched by a whopping 15 Million people more than the Oscars. Gaming’s biggest award show saw 45 Million people tune in while The Oscars drew in 29.6 Million viewers. The Academy Awards is known to be one of the most popular award shows in the entire world, celebrating the best that Hollywood has to offer. But the popularity of videogames seems to have reached new heights, surpassing The Oscars by a massive margin.

In fact, this wasn’t a one-off bad year for the Oscars. Reports say that The Oscars in 2019 saw a 7.7% increase compared to the previous year. Videogames have already proved to be one of the biggest industries in the entertainment sector, with revenues higher than traditional sports, music and movie industries. The Game Awards viewership only goes to prove just how big the gaming industry is and what is to be expected in the years to come.
