The biggest bi-annual CS:GO league which is run by ESL has revamped its competitive format, coming into effect for the first time ever at the upcoming, ESL Pro League Season 17.

This tournament will be coming in hot right after the IEM Katowice 2023, scheduled to take place from 22nd February to 26th March in Malta with 32 of the best CS:GO teams going head-to-head against each other for a total prize pool of $850,000 USD (INR 6,92,88,175).

The latest season of ESL Pro League, first of the two that are supposed to take place in 2023 is all set to begin from next month onwards, taking place across four weeks in the beautiful city of Malta.

Teams

A total of 32 teams will be competing in this tournament, split into four groups of eight teams each.

Most teams participating in this event are Permanent Partner Teams, while the remaining have attained a slot on the basis of either their ESL World Ranking or through the various Regional Qualifiers.

Format

Group Stage

  • The 32 participants will be divided into four groups of eight teams each.

  • Each group will follow a newly introduced triple elimination bracket.

  • All matches will feature a best-of-three series.

  • The first placed team from each group will directly qualify to the Quarterfinals.

  • The second placed team from each group will directly qualify to the Round of 12.

  • The third and fourth placed teams from each group will directly qualify to the Round of 16.

Playoffs

  • The 16 teams that qualify through the Group Stage will continue to compete in this stage of the tournament.

  • This bracket will follow a classic single-elimination bracket.

  • All matches in this stage of the tournament will follow a best-of-three series, except for the grand final which will feature a best-of-five clash.

Prize Pool

The tournament will feature a total prize pool of $850,000 USD which will be split between all the 32 participants based on their overall placement. In addition to this, the champions will directly qualify to the IEM Cologne 2023.

Livestream

ESL Pro League Season 17 will be broadcasted live exclusively on Twitch in multiple languages including English. Furthermore, multiple streams will be running simultaneously during the early stages of the tournament.
