twitch doesn't even bother coz there are many more games which gets streamed and yeah some of them have more concurrent streams than Dota 2.
and if you think its the end of twitch.tv , you should rather say RIP Amazon for buyin it.

Here's a few pros and cons I can think of IF Valve does decide to turn Steam Broadcasting into a full fledged game broadcasting service that allows users to monetize.
- No hassles with setting up a dedicated livestream using multiple softwares and accounts.
- Stream discovery via the steam / Dota 2 client
- Valve style monetization for users via the workshop / tickets for streams etc.
- Game specific emoticons
- No Kappa
- No Twitch chat / culture
Assuming Valve has the capability to set up the required ingest servers and other infrastructure they'd definitely be able to give Twitch a run for their money. IMO the only reason a streaming platform like YouTube Live (even though it's a lot more technically sound and efficient to livestream) has not been able to compete with Twitch is because of the hardcore gaming culture that Twitch has developed over the years. A company like Valve already has multiple thriving communities for it's plethora of games and I really don't see Twitch culture as too big of a competitive barrier for them.
