In a conversation with AFK Gaming, Lakshay "Vandelek" Singh - Valorant Coach of Aster Army, confirmed that SSSami had to be replaced because he had exam-related commitments and could not travel for the tournament which starts tomorrow.

Note: We also reached out for a statement to SSSami but the player has not responded at the time of publishing this article. In case he does, an update will be made with his response.

VCL 2023 South Asia: Aster Army makes last-minute change to its Valorant roster

Aster Army has made a change to its Valorant roster. SSSami initially faced some visa issues which were later sorted out, but then the player had exam commitments related to his college, making it impossible for him to join the team in Delhi, India where the VCL 2023 South Asia is being played on LAN.

The group stage is scheduled to start tomorrow, 18th March, onwards and accordingly the team has made an adjustment by announcing the signing of a talented player from Singapore, Wink, who has previously played for regional teams like Madness Esports, Habibi, ENDLESS Esports, and Griffin E-Sports.

In a statement to AFK Gaming, the 22-year-old mentioned that he was just happy to play alongside his friends Ngô "Kishi" Trường Huy and Pranav "Kohliii" Kohli, who are also part of Aster Army's active lineup.

"Happy to play alongside Kishi and Kohliii, both that I'm friends with for a while in Valorant. Hope we bring it home!" says Wink.

Honestly, not a lot is known about this player and it will be interesting to see how he goes on to perform against some of the best teams from the South Asia region.

Vandelek also mentioned that this move was in the works for a few days now and that Wink would be reaching India on Sunday, 19th March. It is unknown right now whether SSSami will join the team at a later point in time along the course of the tournament.

The playing five for Aster Army at VCL 2023 South Asia will be:

  1. Hrishikesh "DominiK" Khedkar

  2. Soumyadeep "DOXZ3R" Dey

  3. Ngô "Kishi" Huy

  4. Pranav "Kohliii" Kohli

  5. Lee "Wink" Zhen Yong
